Infinite Heroes Black Adam et al

If you're not willing to pay the still-exorbitant eBay prices for Black Adam, Qwardian Weaponeer, Hush and the Manhunter robot (seriously... I just saw bidding up to $11 on a figure) you can try Impulse Creation. As a warning, I have NOT tried them before, and this is my first attempt at using them, but they have the figures in stock for $5.69, and shipping started at $6.50 for UPS. 4 figures, plus shipping, equaled just under $30. Anyone have any good results from this store?

Edit: 9/26/08 - Came home today to find my box with the figures in it. 4 days from order to opening isn't that bad, but as we all know past performance does not guarantee results. I probably won't get a chance to update the profiles until next weekend but who knows.

Hulk Wave 3 on eBay

Our policy is not to link to ongoing eBay auctions, yadda yadda yadda, but astute shoppers will notice that Hulk Wave 3 is starting to make its way onto eBay, with sellers from Texas to NY shipping them.

One thing we'd like to point out though, if only to save you money from (what we feel) is an questionable practice we noticed.

Cmdstore.com's web-store: Hulk Wave 3, $34.95, plus $8.95 shipping. Total $43.90.

Cmdstore.com's Ddmark's eBay listing: Hulk Wave 3, $34.95 (or 39.95 if you Buy It Now), plus $9.95 shipping and handling. Total (if you buy it now), $49.90.

Since they're shipping from the same source via the same post office in Champlain NY (a small little town on Canada's borders and gateway to Quebec, for those that have never visited) you might as well save yourself $6.00 and buy directly from the store. And what's worse is they still haven't fixed their listing to show that they've been shipping Green Hulk, not Red Hulk (which so far, nobody has seen and was likely a product swap-out)

Wave 11 up for pre-order

Big Bad Toy Store has Wave 11 of the Super Hero Squad (Ronin, Ultron, Mystique, Skrull Soldier, SHIELD Agent) up for pre-order ($30 for the set, another $8 and change for shipping and suggests that the figures are shipping in November.

And interesting to note, this is the first wave since way back when 5 and 6 shipped together to feature a 2-pack where both characters are new. Who knows when the next pack will come out, since the Black Widow wave and upcoming Hulk Wave 3 are all 1 previously released character and 1 new character. The Skrull Soldier, while making perfect sense in terms of Secret Invasion, still came totally out of left field when the SKUs were released back in February. While popular guesses for the set included Winter Soldier, Hydra Soldier and AIM soldier, nobody guessed Skrull Soldier until he was shown at SDCC.

Wave 10 up for pre-order at BBTS

I don't personally use Big Bad Toy Store (sorry, but the prices for many figures are on the exorbitantly high side, like Angel/Colossus for $15.00, and shipping is on the high side as well), but they have listed Wave 10 (aka, Wave 9 for the folks that combine 5 and 6 into one wave) up for pre-order, shipping in September for a price of $29.99, or a little over $7.00 a figure and the same price as Entertainment Earth's now canceled pre-order. I have heard anecdotal evidence though that Big Bad Toy Store ships quicker than other online stores, so mileage may vary.

It's not an outrageous price, but considering other retailers like Hasbro still sell Super Hero Squad for $6, and other recent waves have been fairly easy to find at retail you may be better off waiting for the figures to return to Hasbro Toy Shop.

The most important thing is that this is hopefully a good sign that we're on track for a September/October release.

Squad Shopping for the week of July 6th

There's a couple sales going on that will hopefully help someone out with their Super Hero Squad shopping.

First, Toys R Us has some sales going on like:

Spider-Man SHS: Spider-Man/Venom, Spider-Man Sandman - $3.48
Sandpit Standoff - $8.98
Marvel SHS: Galactus/Torch, Sentinel/Wolverine - $6.98
Avengers and X-Men TRU Exclusive 5 packs - $9.08

They also have various 2-packs from the last two waves and the first Hulk wave for $6.39. It's a great way to get Psylocke, Spider-Woman or Cable if you haven't already.

Hasbro Toy Shop has some old Wave 1 and 2 figures up for sale, along with some newer figures. Currently on sale you'll find:
Angel/Colossus, Cyclops/Magneto, Wolverine/Sabretooth, Pyro/Iceman, Thor/Loki - $3.99
Collector's Pack - $15.99

And if you're shopping Hasbro Toy Shop, the SPRREQ8 code should still get you 10% off. Pyro/Iceman and Thor/Loki are both great sets that I don't think have been on sale yet, so now's your chance.

The Mysterious Wave 10

I had a great e-mail from a reader pointing out that the Super Hero Squad Wave 10 figures (Sentry et al) have been removed from Hasbro Toy Shop, and the third wave of 4-packs (City in Crisis/Spider-Man Saves the Day and Winter Soldier Saga) disappeared as well.

In late April Wave 3 of the 4-packs went up for pre-order, and as of right now, orders placed for the sets are still listed as "back-ordered" in HTS's account status and were originally scheduled to ship 8/14/08. Before those figures were up for pre-order, Wave 10 was never made it to pre-order stage.

I've read a couple posts on some trader message boards saying that the line is over, and Entertainment Earth did mark the wave as canceled but the figures remained up on HTS for weeks afterward.

Now, here's where things get even weirder: the first picture of Wave 10 came from the Previews catalog and said the figures were shipping in July. The figures are not listed in the July 2008 consumer cancellations however and we don't have access to earlier cancellation lists. We checked the Product Change Archives and the Shipping Updates but neither of those mentioned the figures. That's not necessarily determinative of anything though, as the only real Hasbro announcement made was when they bumped up some Indiana Jones figures shipping dates.

Midtown Comics still has the figures listed as shipping July/August, and is offering the cases at 10% discount, Urban Collector lists them at 18% discount and shipping in July, Statue Toys has them shipping 3rd Quarder 2008 for about a 10% pre-order discount, Galaxy Comics gives them a July 30 shipping date so apparently none of those retailers have any reason to think that orders will not be fulfilled. But as we've talked about before, simply being available for pre-order online does not mean a product is guaranteed.

We're going to try to get more information on the subject, but right now what we have is:

(1) Winter Soldier Saga wasn't shipping until August, and those pre-orders when placed before HTS took the product listings down have not been yet been canceled.

(2) Wave 10 is listed as canceled by Entertainment Earth, and the products which were shown on HTS (but never put up for pre-order) have been removed. The figures were originally scheduled by Previews to ship in July, and (from what we have access to) Previews does not list the figures as canceled/delayed, and many comic stores (or at least their online counterparts), still have the figures available for pre-order.

So the information we have currently says the products are still coming out.

Hulk Wave 2 shipping via Previews

And to further follow up on the Hulk Wave 2 (aka, the She-Hulk wave) delay last mentioned here Chuck Moore on the Comic Related forum has posted the June 25 expected Previews shipment showing "MAY084666 HULK SUPER HERO SQUAD AF 200802 $95.88" as being shipped. Which in layman's terms if Hulk SHS Wave 2. The $95.88 price per case is based on the $7.99 per 2-pack suggested sale price Previews lists, which as many people know is more than Wal-Mart and Target, but as we posted yesterday, less than many eBay scalpers are unloading this wave for.

And of course, as is mentioned in the post at Comic Related, such things are subject to change, so contact your local retailer before heading out. I've heard many complaints that comic retailers just don't stock the figures and while it likely has something to do with the cheapness of the figures at retail and on Hasbro Toy Shop, some retailers will pre-order product for you at a discount so it never hurts to ask.

A HA! An answer to the cancelled Hulk Wave 2 orders!

If you know many Super Hero Squad collectors or visit some of the collector boards, you've probably heard at least a few stories of people whose orders have been canceled by Hasbro. We even covered the phenomena here but we've done a little more digging.

First contact with the Hasbro Customer Service representatives was actually very helpful. Apparently, when Hasbro learned that Hulk Wave 2 date was going to be pushed back, they sent out an e-mail notifying people of the delay and informing them that if they are still interested in receiving the figures, they need to contact Hasbro to let them know. Those that did not respond to Hasbro had their orders canceled while Hasbro moved to a new computer system.

So after some digging, I found a copy of the e-mail they send. They do indeed include the line "IF YOU ARE WILLING TO WAIT UNTIL THE DATE(S) INDICATED ABOVE TO RECEIVE YOUR ORDER, YOU MUST CONTACT US TO CONFIRM THAT YOU STILL WANT THE ITEM(S). IF WE DO NOT HEAR FROM YOU, THE ITEM(S) WILL NOT BE SHIPPED, AND YOU WILL NOT BE CHARGED FOR THEM."

But it's at the very end of the e-mail. People who only read the first portion of the e-mail will only be informed that:

"RESPONSE REQUIRED TO RECEIVE YOUR ORDER. Due to high demand, the following item(s) you ordered are still backordered. Please note the revised availability of the items below:"

"ITEM(S) NOT YET SHIPPED
Item number: 78421
Item name: Marvel Super Hero Squad – Hulk and Absorbing Man
Quantity: 1
Estimated ship date: 6/12/2008"

And that is why people who ordered back on May 4th when they were first made available had to re-order their figures, while others who ordered figures weeks later have their figures.

But lets throw some salt on those wounds. The notice that the figures were on back-order and would be canceled without response was dated 5/13/08. The notification that the orders were canceled was dated 6/17/08. The first batch of figures actually started shipping on 6/12/08 (at least according to the people I've talked to.) If Hasbro had canceled the orders earlier, those individuals would have been able to place their orders again and would have been shipped their figures. Instead, Hasbro didn't canceled the orders well after the figures had started shipping!

Now, to throw further salt in the wounds... after those people were given an e-mail saying their orders were canceled, they couldn't place the order again because the website was undergoing an upgrade. And after placing their orders, which have been "expected to ship within 1 business day" since June 17 when they were back online the ship-date for these "in-stock" items keeps being pushed back. Users who ordered an in-stock, ships-in-one-day item on the 17th are still waiting for the item to be shipped on the 20th.

In talking to a Hasbro rep about the shipping delay, the only answer we could get was "we're a little behind right now."

So, in the spirit of constructive criticism, we're offering suggestions to Hasbro for future situations like this:

1) Be like Amazon! While approval is still required to keep the items "on order", they inform you that your item will still be shipped if they receive it prior to a certain deadline. Their exact language is "If we are able to get the items before _______________ 2008, we will ship them to you." Here, many people had canceled orders only after the items had been in stock and started shipping.

2) Provide multiple-access points for the information. Those affected by this situation were told of the situation via e-mail, which is fine but in today's world of junk mail filters, multiple sources of information helps. Those that simply sign on to Hasbro for their order status were only told their order was "back-ordered" which is exactly what it says for future-shipping items, like the City in Crisis and Iron Man Wave 2 sets originally scheduled to ship late summer. A notice that response was required in their order status may have been helpful!

3) Upgraded shipping! While automatic upgraded shipping for all items shipping past the estimated one business day would be too costly, how about free upgrades for people who order an "in-stock" item that hasn't been shipped within 5 days? Or a coupon code/discount card for people facing similar delays?

So if you've been waiting for almost 2 months for an "in stock order", and then your order was canceled, now you know what happened! Go back, place your order, and... uhm... continue waiting because while it's "in stock" there's still apparently some shipping delays.

More SHS Shopping Help

First off, Big Bad Toy Store has some not-so-bad deals on the Hulk Wave 2 Wolverine/Hulk pack and Super Hero Squad Wave 2 Daredevil/Elektra (both for $2.99) but be warned... shipping may be more than you'd expect.

Secondly, Hasbro's Summer Savings Sale has the Collector's Pack for $15.99, Angel/Colossus, Daredevil/Elektra, Cyclops/Magneto, and Captain America/Hawkeye for $3.99, and best of all, Beast/Apocalypse and Ultimate Iron Man/Ultimate Giant Man for $3.99 which is a 60% discount.

Happy shopping!

Black Cat, Puma, Mysterio up for sale at Hasbro Toy Shop

So it looks like when we reported that Black Cat et al were being added to Hasbro's site we were on to something. Currently a search on Hasbro Toy Shop for Super Hero Squad will bring up the Black Cat, Puma and Mysterio two-packs from the late and (sometimes) beloved Spider-Man line. I believe the SPRREQ8 coupon code is still valid at Hasbro, giving fans a 10% discount.

You can also see the figures in the "recently added" part of Hasbro's website here.

Whether this is a sign that Hasbro has pulled some stock from stores that still had the product on the shelves (freeing up space for new stuff), or that they found some stashes of the product in their warehouse, or even if (and this is PURE speculation) they're going to re-release more of the late Spider-Man product, who knows. What is known, is that people who paid $12.99 and $4.75 shipping for the Black Cat pack definitely overpaid, as did the person who paid $6.59 plus $2.95 shipping for just the Black Cat.

More Shopping Help

First, apparently the Hulk Wave 2 packs are pushed back a little more. People who had ordered the Psylocke/Ghost Rider/Daredevil/Venom wave from Hasbrotoyshop should have received their boxes this week (as I did) and while Hulk Wave 2 had been pushed back to ship at the same time as those figures, it's currently listed on the Hasbro site as arriving 6/13-6/16 with express shipping. On the plus side, those are also the expected dates for express shipping of Carnage and Ares et al so those who purchased through Hasbrotoyshop can still have lots of fun unwrapping box after box after box.

Second, hopefully you resisted the temptation to order the Hulk Brawl That Shook the Earth Cinema Scene through eBay for $60, because now Toys R Us has it on their website for $24.95. Add in shipping and handling and the US total is a little over $30. Search the site for Hulk and then scroll down.

And thirdly, the Super Hero Squad puzzles are up for sale and in stock at Hasbro Toy Shop and with express shipping they will be in your house (theoretically) in two days. And coupon code SPRREQ8 was the last discount code I have found that actually works.

Hope that helps someone out.

Spider-Man Wave 1 on sale at Toys R Us, Hasbro Coupons, Collector Pack 1's price

TRU Sale

Toys "R" Us (aka TRU) is also having a sale on Wave 1 of Spider-Man Super Hero Squad shown here.

Iron Man Wave 2 Up for Order

And for those that prefer Hasbro Toy Shop The Genius of Tony Stark and Crimson Dynamo Attacks are up for sale. Unfortunately, they don't start shipping until August 28, 2008.

Hasbro Coupon Code

And after trying the SPRREQ8 coupon code, I can verify that it worked (at least for me) so happy shopping (for those that live where Hasbro Toy Shop ships... sorry friends in other countries.)

Collector's Pack Price Rumor, Finally Busted.

Rumor: The Collector's Pack was originally intended for sale at less than $30.00
Status: Soon to be busted.

This is just as something that's been on my chest for a while... the Collector's Pack's $30 initial price tag isn't a price goof-up, a mistake, an error, whatever. Toys R Us, in the stores at least, still have the set marked at $30 USD. Walmart, when they had them, priced themat $23 before their last mark-down, Marvelous News concurs with the $30.00 MSRP.

Yes, now Hasbro has marked regularly at $20, and currently on sale, but that does not mean that stores charging $30 were "mistaken". Sorry, that's just one of those persistent rumors that hasn't really bothered me enough to get a post, but one person keeps repeating it and it grates a little.

Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price isn't stone though, it's "suggested", and it's why you see Amazon listing movies at $30, "marked down to $20!" for a 30% discount. But, the fact remains, stores were told the MSRP was $30, and some stores still try to sell it at that much.

Wave 1, Wave 2, Mega Packs Wave 1 on sale at Hasbro

At Hasbro Toy Shop a Memorial Day Sale is resulting in Hulk/Wasp, Captain America/Hawkeye, Angel/Colossus, Iron Man/Thor, Galactus/Human Torch, and Sentinel/Wolverine all being marked down to $3.99. The Collector's Pack is marked down to $15.99 as well.

And finally, although I haven't had a chance to test it yet, the coupon code SPRREQ8 is supposed to get you 10% off.

Also on sale: An assortment of figures from various lines including Attacktix, Marvel Legends Icons, Marvel Legends, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, the Ronan Build a Figure Fantastic Four wave, and Spider-Man 3.

This could be a great chance to pick up the Collector's Pack you've been waiting on, or finally assemble that Sentinel army you've been wanting, so happy hunting.

Hulk Wave 2 Delayed

This isn't new news (to those of us that ordered the packs when we saw them) but I keep forgetting to put it up here.

When Hulk Wave 2 Super Hero Squad figures were put up for order on Hasbro's website, as mentioned a while back I was surprised at how quickly the ability to order came, noting how there was no pre-order/coming soon period.

Well, not too long afterwards, the fine folks at Hasbro Toy Shop sent an e-mail explaining that the product was now back-ordered. The current ship-time for Hulk Wave 2 (the She-Hulk, Wolverine, Thing, Black Bolt and Absorbing Man wave) is June 12, 2008, which is conveniently enough the same ship-date as Wave 8 (with Psylocke.) Unless one of these dates gets pushed back, it looks like many of us will have lots of boxes waiting in the mail box mid-June.

Meanwhile, Hulk Wave 2 is still available for purchase on Hasbro Toy Shop, and the somewhat elusive Cable and Deadpool packs are also back in stock.

Super Hero Squad Wave 7 and 8 case revisions

Case revisions, where the number of one figure or another is changed from earlier cases, can sometimes help ease a drought of one particular figure and give collectors relief from eBay prices. And sometimes, they can short-pack particular figures making a particular figure rarer as the line goes on. Entertainment Earth (who sell figures both in sets and in cases) has the following case revision information:

Wave 6/7 (they're using th 6 designation, but it's the wave with Spider-Woman and Deadpool)(out now):
3x Hulk and Spider-Woman
3x Punisher and Deadpool
3x Captain America and Cable
3x Black Spider-Man and Doc Ock

Wave 6/7 Revision 1(June):
4x Hulk & Spider-Woman
2x Punisher & Deadpool
2x Captain America & Cable
4x Black Spider-Man & Doc Ock

Wave 8 (Psylocke, Comic Venom, Ghost Rider and Cycle)(May):
3x Daredevil and Spider-Man
3x Wolverine and Psylocke
3x Spider-Man and Venom
3x Ghost Rider and Motorcycle

Wave 8 Revision 1 (June):
4x Daredevil and Spider-Man
2x Wolverine and Psylocke
4x Spider-Man and Venom
2x Ghost Rider and Motorcycle

So characters like Cable, Deadpool and Psylocke are going to be a little bit harder to find once the revisions start shipping. Those dates, by the way, are from Entertainment Earth. Since Spider-Man/Daredevil and Spider-Man/Venom are going to be shipped with twice as many units as Wolverine/Psylocke and Ghost Rider/Hellcycle, apparently Hasbro is really banking on resculpts of pre-released characters being twice as sellable as the brand new Psylocke and the oft-demanded Ghost Rider on Bike.

Will their theory play out? Are Spideys really that much more popular than characters like Wolverine? We'll soon see.

Shopping Assist: New Super Hero Squad

A couple quick points to help you on your hunt...

1) A user on Marvelousnews.com's forums is saying that Hulk movie Super Hero Squads have started hitting Targets in Missouri today (we already talked about comic stores earlier today, and Hasbro Toy Shop has had for sale for a while)

2) City In Crisis and Winter Soldier are up for pre-order on Hasbro Toy Shop with August 14, 2008 (8/14/08) as the shipping date.

Hulk Wave 1

As some of you know, there's a lot of talk about what's going on with the Hulk Wave 1 figures.

When it was first shown, as a low-res scan of 8 figures, a lot of sites began passing around

Hulk & Abomination
Planet Hulk & Silver Savage
World War Hulk & Iron Man
Hulk & TBA

as the list (which as of 4/17/08 is still how it's presented on Cool Toy Review. Then when Toyfair came and went, and we saw the hi-res promo pictures of everyone but Abomination, a few of us collectors started wondering why Abomination wasn't shown. Then last month we saw the carded two-packs which showed everyone from Toyfair, but without the Abomination.

But Cmdstore still listed 4 2-packs, even though they didn't have photos of Abomination. Roughly around this time, Entertainment Earth listed Hulk wave 1 as having 3 2-packs... but no Abomination. Hasbro only offered those 3 for pre-order.

Now, to further complicate matters, Big Bad Toy Store is showing those same 3 2-packs, and one undisclosed 2-pack.

What's even worse: Ebay is being flooded with Abomination and Hulk 2-packs from California.

So long story short, looks like Hulk and Abomination ARE being released, and it looks like they're out now, assuming you live in California, and that there is a full 4 2-packs out.

For the variant hunters, don't worry, this Hulk has blue pants, unlike his multi-pack version. We'll have to wait until we get bigger and better pictures of the Abomination before we can see if he's a variant or not.

Damn that's a lot of links.
